I am one of the few last remaining origional Micmacs that are now living in Conne A direct link to a culture that in the late thirties due to the change of times started to recede and to disappear completely in the late fifties, our Language took a turn for the worst, in the early twenties due to the fact 95 % of the male population went out among the non Indian people and took wives, this would eventually lead to a complete disappearance of the Micmac language, when Nickley died the last link to the language was broken, it is my belief forever, none of these women ever did learn the language, none were interested in learning it, judging by the way their men was treated by their very own people, it was more of a disadvantage which I can very well understand, and since the men were always gone hunting and furring none of the children ever did learn the language,
